Pedagogy for addressing the digital divide

Introduction

The PADD project demonstrates how a low cost, widely accessible mechanism for achieving IT Literacy across the whole community can stimulate digital inclusion. It shows how such an intervention can be popularised and implemented within existing community, educational, social and professional environments with little or no incremental expense. The conduit for this IT initiative is existing infrastructures and resources within the community -teachers, tutors, facilitators, community worker and mangers/ supervisors - inducted in the PADD process and committed to the broadening IT literacy within marginalised communities. PADD will be run in both formal and non-formal learning settings in the community (clubs, community organisations recreational/sports facilities), in the workplace and in schools and institutions where the need arises.
